We just returned from a spectacular river cruise in France. After a two day stop in Paris, we were bused to Chalon-sur Soane. We boarded the Avalon Scenery, and continued through the Burgandy & Provence regions, cruising through to Arles where we overnighted onboard. The following day we were bused to Nice for an overnight stay before returning home.
It's very true what has happened to the value of the U.S. dollar in Europe. Food and lodging are outrageously expensive. We discovered this when we were on our own for meals in Paris and Nice.
Purchasing a fully paid river cruise in the U.S. definitely has its advantages! Most essential shore excursions and all meals on board are included with excellent quality wine served with dinner. River cruising is the way to go!
